A brunch worthy old fashioned

We’ve shown you how to make a Donny Boo Boo Old Fashioned before, but here’s a clever twist to it that’ll change the flavor ever so slightly… and make it perfectly legit to drink it as a brunch cocktail. Instead of sugar, use maple syrup! The maple syrup was create a really rich and darker taste to your Old Fashioned. I recommend locally made Langdon Wood maple syrup which is aged in rye barrels from Catoctin Creek distillery. Here are some additional local places to purchase it.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 3 dash(es) Angostura bitters
  • 2 ounce(s) bourbon
  • 1 thin strip of lemon or orange peel
  • 1 Maraschino cherry (optional)

Preparation

  • In a rocks glass, combine the maple syrup, bitters, and bourbon
  • Muddle to a paste
  • Add ice and garnish with a two-inch strip of peel
  • Add Maraschino cherry (optional)
