DC based Proper Socks make my feet happy

Innovative DC based products like Proper Socks really make me happy. I think we can all agree that DC is in a bit of a golden age based on all the awesome food, restaurants, and housing. Long a bastion of boring, soulless clothing DC is having a moment with fashion too.

Proper Socks’ value proposition is simple: Your feet hurt from wearing dress shoes all day long; but your socks can help!

The key features that make Proper socks so baller are the following (from their Product page):

Right/Left Foot Specific:

Your right foot isn’t the same as your left foot, is it?  We didn’t think so. Proper Socks are specifically designed with anatomically correct construction to fit each foot uniquely.

Breathable Upper Toe Box:

Nobody likes sweaty feet. That’s why Proper Socks use ventilated mesh fabric for a breathable toe box to help keep your feet cool and dry throughout the day.

Unique Targeted Padding:

Your feet only hit the ground in certain spots, so Proper Socks feature unique, double-layer padding throughout the heel, toe box, and around the side of your feet to absorb everyday impact and to offer Proper comfort and support where it is needed most.

Arch Support:

Snug fabric around your foot provides Proper arch support and better fit.

Locally based Justin Schachner was a management consultant who spent most of his days in dress shoes and on his feet… sound familiar at all? Justin was rightfully frustrated at the lack of dress socks that also have the support of a good pair of athletic socks (and that manage to look cool all in the process). Proper Socks was born. Way to follow the American Dream Justin!

While the product isn’t available for purchase on their web site, you can get in on their Kickstarter campaign which ends on January 7, 2014. Oh and about those cool designs, check these out:
