Preserve your razor blades longer with this trick

Well this is something I wish I knew years ago. This trick could save you some decent cash over a given year…

Any blade you use regularly will develop small indentations (invisible to the naked eye), this goes for the common Gillette razors as well. My thick facial hair must wreak havoc on these blades. The solution is essentially using a razor strop which was traditionally used to hone straight razors and knives back in the day. Running the blades backwards over a surface fixes those little indentations. But you don’t really need a leather strop because you can do the same thing with just denim, or even your arm. Just run the blade backwards over jeans or your forearm quickly 10 to 15 times every once in a while.

Here’s a much more thorough explanation.
