Now that we’re in the throes of another sweltering Washington summer, why not be a kid again and enjoy one of the best treats perfect for this time of year? Ice cream!
Fortunately for DC, Blue Duck Tavern Pastry Chef David Collier has whipped up a variety of tasty creamy confections that will help you weather the hazy, hot and humid days of the DC summer.
First up are decadent ice cream bars. Blue Duck features three flavors, strawberry rhubarb, caramel peanut and cinnamon oatmeal, all available at the Chef’s Table. Next is a daily rotation of delectable ice cream sandwiches — a favorite is the Classic made with vanilla ice cream and a crunchy fleur del sel cookie. The restaurant also serves up its take on the macaroon in flavors such as raspberry, chocolate coffee and cheesecake. Last but not least and available on the dessert menu is the Elvis Sundae. Made with two flavors of ice cream, vanilla and peanut butter, the sundae is topped with a peanut butter crunch, brulee’d bananas and bacon caramel. You can’t help but fall in love.
July is National Ice Cream Month, so it is the perfect time to grab one of these ice cream desserts.
Blue Duck Tavern is located in the West End section of Washington and features dishes made with fresh seasonal ingredients, has its own cheese monger, and offers a wonderful outside patio. The inclusion of these ice cream desserts only adds to the cache of one of DC’s favorite restaurant.
