Sonoma, California’s Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyard, one of the top sparking wine producers in the U.S., is on the hunt for the country’s best appetizer recipe — and its making a stop in D.C.
As part of the second annual “Glorious Bites Challenge,” consumers were invited to submit their best appetizer recipe to pair with Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut. More than 1,800 entries from 44 states were submitted and a selection of 18 recipes were selected as semi-finalists.
The semi-finalists are now competing as part of a three-city tour designed to narrow the field to six finalists who will compete in Sonoma for a $5000 grand prize. Washington, D.C. is serving as one of the host cities for the tour.
From 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, a selection of the semi-finalist will gather at Union Kitchen (1369 New York Ave., NE) to present their entries to a panel of judges, including local food expert Nycci Nellis, founder and publisher of TheListAreYouOnIt.com and co-host the radio show, Foodie and the Beast.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are available online at $25 and includes the opportunity to view the competition, a cooking demonstration, small bites, and sparkling wine.
