Today is National Cannoli Day, yet 24 hours is simply not enough for the folks at Bertucci’s. Already known for the signature black olive dotting the center of its brick oven pizzas and its fresh-baked rolls, it now wants attention for its made from scratch cannoli and is planning activities and promotions through the end of June.
Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Bertucci’s original chef, first-generation Italian Rosario Del Nero, recently rejoined the company and developed the recipe for the sweetened ricotta cheese filling inside the cannoli that were added to Bertucci’s menu last November.
Rock the Vote with a Cannoli Poll
Over the years, cannoli have increased in popularity, whether it’s chocolate dipped, decorated with candied fruit or sprinkled with pistachios – there is a type of cannoli for every consumer. As part of its cannoli promotion, Bertucci’s is hosting a cannoli poll to vote for one of six, potential new cannoli flavors. Chef Rosario will tally up the votes and the winner may find itself on Bertucci’s upcoming fall menu. Each successful submission also receives a certificate for a free Cannoli, good with a $10.99 purchase.
Learn the Proper Cannoli Technique
On June 21 at 10 a.m. ET, Chef Rosario will host a Facebook Live discussion from the Bertucci’s location in Columbia, Md. Viewers will learn the answer to the age old question, “How do you fill cannoli?” Chef Rosario will also highlight the best techniques on how to create a scrumptious, creamy dessert and showcase new flavors from the just-released Bertucci’s summer limited-time-offer menu, featuring fresh ingredients and wines from California’s Central Coast. Exciting additions include Frutti di Mare (“Bounty of the Sea”) and Burrata.
