The DC Lottery celebrates neighborhoods

Washington is so much more than what’s portrayed in the movies and on television. Visitors delight at the majestic monuments, get lost in the awe inspiring collections of the museums or just revel in the seat of the world’s most powerful country. However for those of us who are fortunate to live in our Nation’s Capital, we get to experience the true beauty of the city. That is our city’s vibrant neighborhoods, which provide that perfect sense of community.

Washingtonians know that these neighborhoods are the real beauty and power of the city. From Fort Dupont, the H Street corridor to the SW Waterfront, it is these and other diverse neighborhoods throughout DC that people call “home” and continue to live and thrive. The DC Lottery is helping to show-off this spirit through the Neighborhoods Scratcher Campaign.

The Lottery has recently introduced the Neighborhoods Scratcher. This new game consists of scratch-off tickets that feature 12 distinct neighborhoods of the District that capture the heart and soul of the city. The new scratchers include 2 top prizes of $100,000 as well as in a second chance to win $500,000 that could be used towards a purchase of a home in DC. It’s easy to play, get your ticket and visit the Lottery’s website to get all of the information and to also enter any non-winning tickets. If you collect all 12 tickets, you will also be entered to win $25,000!

The contest is really a tribute to the city. According to the Lottery, “Neighborhoods is about giving back to the people of DC by showcasing where they are from, what they love about it, and how it relates to who they are.” You can take part in this celebration by creating your own images of the scenes that mean the most you in DC and posting them using the hashtag #ShowYourDC in your social media feeds. Let’s see you represent, DC!
