Looking for something to do this weekend? Head to DC VegFest on Saturday, Sept. 2 from 11am-6pm in Yards Park. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend this year’s festival which is free and open to all, vegans and non-vegans. The event will feature speakers and cooking demonstrations along with a Kids’ Zone with interactive activities; live entertainers in the music tent; more than 130 vendors (many of which offer free food samples) as well as a beer garden.
DC VegFest is now in its ninth year and is the largest VegFest hosted on the East Coast. This year speakers include US Congressman Jamie Raskin, from Maryland’s 8th District; Doron Petersan, owner of Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats and FareWell, Cookbook Author; David Carter, former NFL player as well as many other. Rapper Grey will serve as the festival’s emcee.
Festival favorite, Vegan Treats will be on hand offering up some of the finest baked goods to savory (and crush diets). The line for this popular bakery during the event has been known to have a quite a lengthy wait. So for this year, attendees have the opportunity to buy a Golden Ticket, in the hopes of skipping the line to the envy of waiting fans.
The first 1,000 attendees receive a FREE tote bag full of samples and coupons. For more information on DC VegFest visit their website.
