Bacon & bourbon are arguably two of the most amazing words in the English language (OK, OK. I know they are both French words but humor me). And this Thursday you can be saying them over and over at the The Washington City Paper’s 5th annual Bacon & Bourbon Whiskey Festival from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The event is being held at The Showroom and will feature more than 30 premium whiskies and beers along with mouth-watering bacon dishes.
Some of the participating distilleries include Michter’s, Reservoir Distillery, Four Roses Bourbon, District Distilling, Catoctin Creek, KO Distilling, Jos. A Magnus, Belle Isle Craft Spirits, amd Virginia Distillery Company. The evening’s sweet and savory bacon dishes are coming from local favorites 1905 Bistro & Bar, Tredici DC, Chouquette, Spring House Farm, Jack Rose, and Dram & Grain.
There will also be a special butchering demonstration. Master butcher Marc Pauvert of the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore will take guests through the art of breaking down a whole hog from Spring House Farm in Loudoun County, Va.
Dry Mill Road will be providing entertainment with their “NewGrass” blend of old, new and traditional bluegrass as well as a surprising twist on tunes by Led Zeppelin, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles. DJ Tanner will also be on the decks, sponsored by Jason Mandel of Washington Fine Properties.
General admission tickets are $55 and provides unlimited tastings and a souvenir glass. A special $110 VIP allows for an earlier admission at 6 p.m.
