Monumental Sports Network launches new Citi Open mini-series and ticket package

Monumental Sports Network and Citi Open ATP/WTA Tennis Tournament, formerly the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, have announced the launch of a new mini-series, The 50th Celebration Series, to commemorate 50 years of the tournament in Washington, D.C.

The 50th Celebration Series, presented by GEICO (a tournament sponsor for nearly two decades), will run exclusively on Monumental Sports Network, a first-of-its-kind, direct-to-fan digital sports streaming platform. The mini-series will recount the tournament’s history and legacy, with interviews with its co-founders and key influencers who helped bring tennis to D.C.

In addition, the Network, in partnership with Citi Open, will offer an Ultimate DC Sports Package which bundles tickets to Citi Open matches (including the Wild Card Challenge) with a one-year VIP subscription to the Network, which includes livestream games, original programming, and monthly meet-and-greet events with the Washington Wizards, Capitals, Mystics and other local sports teams.

“The Ultimate DC Sports Package brings D.C. sports fans closer to the action,” said Zach Leonsis, Monumental Sports Network General Manager. “At Citi Open, you’ll get one of the best seats in all of tennis with unparalleled proximity to your favorite tennis stars. With Monumental Sports Network, the all-access sports programming gives fans an intimate look at the area’s home teams.”

The Citi Open will be held from July 28 through August 5 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center, benefiting underserved and low-income kids in the D.C. community through the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation.

One of only 13 elite ATP World Tour 500-level events worldwide and the only one held in the U.S., the tournament represents a WTA International event and is one of only five U.S. tournaments that include both men’s and women’s fields.

“We are thrilled to partner with Monumental Sports Network to share the making and history of this iconic event,” said Keely O’Brien, Citi Open Tournament Director. “It is my hope that through this collaboration, our D.C. sports fans will be reminded of the Tournament’s long-term commitment to serving our community and for hosting world-class competition.

Fans can sign up for a free trial with the Monumental Sports Network by visiting www.GetMonumental.com for access to the new series. Tickets for the Ultimate DC Sports Package start at $40 for a single session.  All tickets and packages are on sale now and available to purchase on www.citiopentennis.com
