Maverick designer Nick Graham, presented his Spring/Summer 2019 collection titled, “1969” at CADILLAC HOUSE during New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Always a spectacle, Graham’s shows having always been one of those must see events during Fashion Week.

“1969 was one of most transformational years in our history, a year that had not only the first landing on the Moon by Apollo 11 and hosted Woodstock, both pretty pivotal events in our culture.” Graham said.

The collection was inspired by many “1969” moments with models dressed in astronaut inspired bomber jackets, commander pants, and what Graham calls “space suits,” tailored clothing with updated trims for intergalactic journeys. This is not Graham’s first foray into space. For A/W 2017, Graham’s Life on Mars collection also looked to the stars.

Graham is also known for infusing a bit of fun in each of his shows either through the setting to enhance his inspiration of the use of celebrity models to walk the runway. He’s had Bill Nye the Science Guy, model and Instagram star, Mr. Rutherford and even reality star Frankie Grande strut their stuff down the runway. This year was no exception, once again, astronaut Buzz Aldrin hit the runway for Graham proving he’s become quite the muse. In addition, Instagram sensation The Suited Racer and rising Instagram star and content Igee Okafor were welcome additions to this year’s guys selected to show off the collection. The presentation culminated with Graham’s youngest fans dancing down the runway in shirts donning the designer’s logo reading “Future Martians.”

Nick Graham’s collections always contain a bit of whimsy. The clothes are fun. What’s nice is they are also pretty accessible. His designs can be found in many department stores across the country at very attainable price points. For something a little bolder than a more traditional labeled suit, look to Graham.
