HoverDC opens at The Observation Deck at CEB Tower

The Observation Deck at CEB Tower today announced the rollout of new property enhancements including the debut of a new thrill attraction: HoverDC, a simulator offering an immersive flyover experience of the nation’s capital. For aviation enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, HoverDC provides a first-ever perspective above D.C.’s historic corridor – a strict no-fly zone. Also opening is a new champagne lounge: The View, celebrating D.C.’s local flare with a selection of fine champagnes and rotating works from local photographers. HoverDC opens today and The View opens late December. Both experiences come at no additional charge for guests.

HoverDC features a multimedia floor screen, advanced audiovisuals and an immersive experience made possible by ventilators placed around the simulator. Riders start high above the Rosslyn neighborhood and from there travel to Great Falls Park, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and other recognizable landmarks within the region. Zooming in and out, riders will experience both close-up and birds-eye views of the scenery below. A professional guide is along for the journey, narrating the historical significance of each destination in-view.

Since its opening on June 21, The Observation Deck at CEB Tower, at nearly 400 feet above the Rosslyn metro stop, has afforded to its patrons unobstructed 360˚ views of the nation’s capital. HoverDC takes this viewing experience to the next level by simulating flight over an area in which even drones are prohibited, and the observatory’s new champagne lounge will be the latest contender in D.C.’s rooftop scene when it opens later this month.

“As the capital’s premier viewing attraction, we’re committed to offering guests a perspective like no other,” says Graham Dunn, general manager of The Observation Deck at CEB Tower. “Whether through the thrill of simulated flight or the wonder of hovering over a world-class monument, HoverDC is a tribute to the human ingenuity that makes our nation’s capital unique. Over the course of a several-minute ride on HoverDC or an al-fresco toast at sunset, we encourage our guests to experience D.C. like never before.”

Guests wishing to experience HoverDC and The Observation Deck at CEB Tower’s other attractions can purchase tickets at the door or online at https://www.theviewofdc.com/en-US/buy-tickets. The Observation Deck at CEB Tower is open 7 days a week.
