Geek out at Awesome Con 2019

Awesome Con returns to the nation’s capital with three days of programming complete with panels, workshops, and celebrity appearances, April 26 to 28. Marking its seventh-year, the event celebrate all aspects of geekdom, including comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, anime, gaming, TV, movies, animation, music, comedy, art, and science.

Being held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Awesome Con 2019 will including a number of themed pavilions. The Toy Association will have a family-friendly pavilion billed as Awesome Con Jr; the Smithsonian Institute is once again be presenting Future Con, a science pavilion showcasing the intersection between science and science fiction with live demonstrations and experts discussing everything from space exploration to spy technology; and back for the third year is Pride Alley presented in partnership with Geeks OUT and Washington Blade, shining a spotlight on LGBTQ creators and fans in an even more robust section of Artist Alley and presenting special programs addressing diversity in pop culture.

Last year’s Awesome Con welcomed more than 71,000 visitors. This year’s attendees are encouraged to start planning their Awesome Con experience now by viewing the full schedule and purchasing advance tickets.
