This weekend head to the Filmore in Silver Spring for the Africa Gives Back International (AGBI) Gala. For some, the AGBI Gala is one of the most anticipated culturally fashionable social events in the D.C. metropolitan area, also known as the AFRICAN MET GALA. This year, Real Housewives of Potomac Star Gizelle Bryant will be on hand as AGBI’s Ambassador and Honoree for this year.
The event brings together young professionals, influencers, and taste-makers to celebrate with the best Afrobeats and Caribbean tunes , raise funds and create awareness for clean water programs in sub-Saharan Africa. This year proceeds will go towards building water wells, providing clean water to needy villages in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
The goal of the evening is to expand awareness of the need to end the global water crisis. This year’s gala will be an interactive experience. Guest will be able to experience the Water Walk where guests can get a glimpse of the 6 mile walk villagers must make to fetch water. In addition, they will be able to the lifestyle art exhibit showcasing jungle photographs the village members from Sierra Leone.
The event will be held Saturday, July 13 from 7pm until 1 am at the Filmore in downtown Silver Spring. Tickets can be purchased here.
