Temporary closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Ivy Hotel, a 19th-century boutique hotel mansion in Baltimore’s historic Mt. Vernon neighborhood, reopened its doors yesterday.
“We are thrilled to indulge guests in The Ivy experience again, which is so well suited to what local and regional travelers want in a getaway today,” said Rob Arthur, The Ivy Hotel, General Manager. “While we’ve instated significant COVID-19 precautions throughout the entire property in concert with guidance from public officials as well as the Director of the Harvard Medical School Infectious Research, The Ivy has long focused on cultivating an environment of peace, comfort and serenity.”
“Like staying in the home of a generous, worldly friend, we place emphasis on a European chateau-style visit, offering the most exclusive luxuries combined with an inclusive room rate to deliver the only experience of its kind in the world, right here in Baltimore,” added Arthur.
As the first and only Relais & Châteaux hotel in Maryland, The Ivy Hotel features 18 suites and standard guest rooms, an on-site restaurant, a spa and spacious commons areas. A number of amenities are included in the nightly room rate including breakfast, unlimited access to the Mansion Bar, afternoon tea, and car service within city limits.
The Ivy Hotel’s reopening included the introduction of a makeover of its restaurant. Formerly a fine dining concept, the restaurant is now called Magdalena, a Maryland Bistro. Its new menu features Maryland classics with rich history such as the Mock Turtle Soup 2020, Eastern Shore Crab Cake, Southern Maryland Ham, and more. With a bistro emphasis, it includes ways for diners to create their own experiences with a variety of hors d’0euvres, appetizers, entrées, sides and desserts at a more flexible price point.
“Looking back upon five years since opening and understanding how the pandemic is affecting our daily lives, we decided to naturally evolve from traditional fine dining into a bistro concept that explores the meaning of Maryland cuisine in a fun and accessible way,” remarked Executive Chef, Mark Levy. “Our goal with the new concept is to create a beautiful homage to Maryland that locals will feel proud of and introduce out-of-town visitors to an elevated take on iconic Baltimore dishes.”
Both The Ivy Hotel and Magdalena, a Maryland Bistro are currently accepting reservations via the hotel website and Open Table, respectively.
