Megabus installs new air filters eliminating 99.99% of pathogens

Megabus has announced that it has installing new Bio Guard filters on its buses for the safety of passengers.

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the public transport sector has been working tirelessly to protect customers from the effects of the virus. With the help of the newly developed PEPA-F (Pathogen Eliminating Particulate Air Filter) by Filtration Control Ltd, Megabus has now retrofitted its buses with a virus eliminating HVAC filtration system.

The New Pathogen Eliminating Particulate Air Filter captures airborne particles which may contain pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 and then eliminates 99.99% making travel a lot safer. Megabus is the first bus company in the US to proactively use Bio Guard filters.

According to Megabus, the air on its buses is filtered every two minutes, faster than the filtration rate on planes and trains.

In addition to installing the Bio Guard filters, Megabus has implemented stringent cleaning and disinfecting procedures on all buses.  To protect passengers and staff are required to wear facial coverings while boarding and riding the bus.  Buses currently allow 50% capacity on all scheduled services through January 6, 2021 to ensure an empty seat next to each passenger at no additional charge in accordance with social distancing guidelines.
