DC’s only pedal party cruise boats, operating as Potomac Paddle Club, and floating tiki bar party boats, operating as Potomac Tiki Club, are back on the water for the 2023 season with new vessels and routes. In addition to its original port at Georgetown Harbour, boats will now sail from The Wharf and Navy Yard in DC, Rocketts Landing in Richmond, Harborview Marina in Baltimore, and Annapolis Town Dock in Ego Alley in Annapolis. Popular for social events, Bachelorette parties, family reunions, corporate gatherings, and any type of celebration, the Paddle and Tiki boats will be cruising until late October at all locations.
The parent company, Sea Suites Cruises, launched in 2018 as The Potomac Paddle Club with one pontoon pedal boat operating out of Georgetown Harbour. This season, owners Jack Walten and Jack Maher, the “Jacks”, will have ten boats between DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Walten and Maher, born and raised in Arlington, VA, have been best friends since they were two years old in preschool bonding over their shared first name. The Jacks left their day jobs in 2021 and formed Sea Suite Cruises to create a full suite of unique water-based offerings in the region.
The cruises, holding six to 20 passengers and staffed by a licensed master captain, are priced between $45 to $60 per person and last one hour and 45 minutes to two hours depending on the boat and route selected. Guests may bring their own beverages (BYOB) or take advantage of the boat’s bar that serves beer, seltzers, and canned cocktails. They are also welcome to bring their own food aboard all boats.
