The team that operates Kraken Axes and Rage and Hook Hall has opened Kraken Kourts & Skates,  a 70,000 square-foot sports and entertainment complex housing 14 pickleball courts and the city’s only indoor roller skating rink, opened today in MRP Realty’s Bryant Street NE development in the District’s Edgewood neighborhood.

Anna Valero, president and founder of Kraken Experiences and Hook Hall, says “What is amazing about pickleball and roller skating is that both sports have this mass appeal.  It doesn’t matter how old or athletic you are, both are activities that everyone can enjoy,” she said. “We will focus on the experience for everyone, including spectators, with lounge seating in courtside cabanas and a food and drink menu featuring local favorites.”

In addition to the pickleball courts and roller skating rink, Kraken Kourts & Skates has a central gathering space that includes open seating, cornhole, oversized Jenga, ping-pong, and darts. There are also private cabanas available for rental. The entire complex is serviced by an onsite bar and snack outlet. Later this summer a 30,000-square-foot outdoor beer garden will also be available.

Kraken Kourts & Skates is open to the public as well as for private rentals for special events. It is located at 514 Rhode Island Ave NE, and the hours of operation are Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to midnight.
