Astro Beer Hall expands to Shirlington

Astro Beer Hall is getting a second location. The popular sports bar will have a location in the Village at Shirlington starting tomorrow, Sept. 19. Taking over the former home of Capitol City Brewing Co. at 4001 Campbell Avenue, the new 14,000 square-foot beer hall and full-service coffee shop will offer a dining and game room complete with pool tables and a wide array of arcade games in addition to an unrivaled 140-seat patio.

Astro Beer Hall Shirlington will open with all-day service: doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches and more will be available “to-go” from the coffee shop, while dine-in service will be offered in the beer hall for lunch, happy hour, and dinner services. Weekend brunch will debut at Astro Beer Hall Shirlington in the coming weeks.

Designed with sharing in mind, the all-day menu at Astro Beer Hall consists of popular Astro Beer Hall snacks, sandwiches, and salads. Standout favorites such as the Asteroid Hot Chicken Sandwich, Philly-inspired cheesesteaks, and Pimento Cheese Dip and Biscuits are complemented by a few new additions: the Astronomic Burger composed of two 4oz Pat LaFrieda beef patties topped with pimento cheese, fried onions, smoked bacon, pickled jalapenos, and Hickory BBQ sauce, and appetizer sampler platter the Satellite Sampler Tower, constructed with loaded fries, deviled eggs, fried mac & cheese, chicken fingers and wings, cheeseburger sliders and fried pickles.

Behind the bar, Astro Beer Hall features 24 tap lines primarily dedicated to brews from local and independently owned breweries. The bar also offers a concise selection of cocktails, including the cinnamon-spiced Launchpad espresso martini, a rum-spiked Rocket Queen with pineapple and mint, an Apollo Paloma, and two slushie options with flavors that will rotate seasonally. Happy Hour will be offered on weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m. with $2 off pint beers and select cocktails.

The two-level beer hall offers seating for large groups throughout the space, with an additional 140 seats available on Astro’s patio, the largest in Shirlington. The interior features custom artwork in the form of two floor-to-ceiling galactic-themed murals and a bar top of space-themed illustrations. During the warmer months, 18 feet of nano doors alongside the patio allow for an integrated indoor-outdoor feel. Guests will be able to watch sports and special events on the nearly 20 large-screen televisions located throughout the space, ten of which are located around the bar, and enjoy classic arcade games such as ski ball, Asteroids, Ms. Pacman, Pop-A-Shot basketball. Astro Beer Hall Shirlington plans to debut a basement pool hall space in the coming months.

Located next door to the sprawling beer hall, the Astro Beer Hall coffee shop features many classic Astro Doughnut & Fried Chicken menu items, including its popular fried chicken sandwiches, signature yeasted doughnuts, and nine different varieties of fried-to-order cake doughnuts courtesy of a doughnut robot visible to guests from the building’s exterior. Guests can enjoy a full selection of Compass Coffee beverages alongside standout new breakfast dishes such as the “Astro Shot,” a Nutella-coated yeasted doughnut filled with a shot of Compass Coffee espresso & steamed milk, Buffalo Chicken & Belgian Waffle Sandwich served with a fried egg and honey butter, and house-made Brioche Cinnamon Rolls with a cream cheese glaze (weekends only).

The Astro Beer Hall coffee shop will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, while operational hours for the beer hall will adhere to the following schedule: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
