The District’s first-ever Andean Gastronomy Week, Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Dec. 3, will take diners on an immersive culinary tour of the Andes Mountain Region at Don Segundo, the exclusive pop-up restaurant, nestled within the prestigious Michelin-listed El Secreto de Rosita.
Andean Gastronomy Week is the brainchild of El Secreto de Rosita owner and Latin Concepts founder Mauricio Fraga-Rosenfeld, who has been on a 27-year quest to bring the regional cuisine of his childhood to the nation’s capital and beyond.
Fraga-Rosenfeld has tapped Chef Daniel Maldonado and Chef Andres de la Torre, renowned for their innovative creations at Quito’s Urko restaurant, named the Best Restaurant in Ecuador in 2023, to be a part of this event, to work alongside Chef Cristian Granada to bring their masterful cuisine to Don Segundo for the weeklong event.
Drawing inspiration from the rich culinary tapestry of Ecuador, Don Segundo’s Andean Gastronomy Week menu leans Peruvian while embracing influences from the nation’s vast terrain — from the coastal regions to the fusion of flavors from Europe and Asia.
Andean Gastronomy Week’s nightly dinner is $175 per person, with an optional wine pairing for an additional $65. Seating is limited and starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. Reservations require pre-payment and can be made online via OpenTable.
