Having a moment: Hilton reports growth and strategic moves

The recent inauguration of Tempo by Hilton Nashville Downtown is merely one among the many new hotels Hilton has launched since the beginning of 2024.

Hilton is touting its positive financial performance, with first-quarter earnings showcasing significant growth. The McLean-based hospitality giant reported quarterly total revenues exceeding $2.5 billion, surpassing analysts’ expectations. This financial milestone follows closely behind a series of strategic acquisitions and new partnerships, setting the stage for Hilton’s continued expansion in the industry.

Earlier this year, the company announced the acquisition of Graduate Hotels and NoMad, expanding its portfolio into the university-focused and luxury hotel segments, respectively. These acquisitions are part of Hilton’s strategy to diversify its offerings and cater to a wider range of travelers.

Since its inception in 2014, Graduate Hotels has grown to span the United States and the United Kingdom, including locations in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Knoxville, Tennessee; Palo Alto, California; State College, Pennsylvania; and Oxford and Cambridge, United Kingdom, with new hotels opening soon in Austin and Dallas, Texas; Auburn, Alabama; and Princeton, New Jersey. 

NoMad’s flagship property – the NoMad London – will be available for booking to Hilton guests beginning later this year, and an expansion of NoMad is planned to follow. Hilton projects that as many as 100 NoMad properties will be developed globally over time, with approximately 10 already in advanced stages of discussion.

In addition to these acquisitions, Hilton is now partnering with AutoCamp, a company specializing in outdoor, Airstream-based camping experiences. This partnership aligns with Hilton’s goals to offer unique and sustainable lodging options and tap into the growing market of eco-conscious and experiential travelers.

In the coming months, Hilton guests will have the opportunity to enjoy stays that merge outdoor adventure with boutique hotel luxury. Hilton Honors members will also benefit from earning and using points on stays, along with enjoying exclusive benefits.

Additionally, Hilton’s recently announced partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, significantly expands its portfolio of luxury accommodations. Hilton Honors members can now book, earn, and redeem points at participating SLH properties, which include 560 luxury boutique hotels in 90 countries. This move aligns with Hilton’s ongoing efforts to cater to the diverse preferences and needs of modern travelers by providing more luxurious, bespoke hotel stays worldwide.

Hilton has again been recognized as a top employer in the United States. Great Place to Work and Fortune named Hilton No. 1 on the 100 Best Companies to Work For in the U.S. list, marking its ninth consecutive placement on the prestigious list and sixth consecutive year in the top 10.
