Sushi By Bou opens atop L’Enfant Plaza’s citizenM Hotel

Sushi By Bou, renowned for its distinctive omakase experiences, has launched its latest venue on the rooftop of the fashionable citizenM Washington DC Capitol Hotel. The intimate dining destination is an immersive disco-themed playground that serves signature high-quality omakase menus. 

The restaurant’s sushi chefs expertly guide guests through a thoughtfully curated 60-minute omakase journey designed to be accessible. Diners can relax and entrust the chef to handpick their menu, selecting either a 12-course sustainable fish menu for $60 or indulging in the 17-course “Bou-gie” upgrade for $125, which includes the classic 12 courses complemented by five additional seasonal courses, a hand-roll ,and a complimentary welcome-sake.

Featured delicacies include hamachi (yellowtail), botan ebi (spotted prawn), ikura (salmon roe), hotate (scallop), o-toro (fatty tuna), unagi (BBQ eel), and their signature wagyuni (‘surf and turf’). Hand rolls and other sushi favorites utilizing the freshest, highest-quality fish sourced locally and globally are available upon request, along with additional à la carte specialties and seasonal mochi ice cream for dessert. Free-flowing sake and inventive cocktails like the Roku martini, made with Japanese gin, enhance the festive atmosphere.

Embodying the lively spirit of the underground disco era, the D.C. location welcomes guests from an elevator through a dimly lit entryway illuminated by multi-hued lights, leading to a lounge area featuring a black ceiling adorned with disco balls of various sizes. A playful photo opportunity awaits with three large disco balls while upbeat dance tracks, funky light fixtures, a lush greenery wall, pop art accents, neon signage, and an eclectic mix of furniture and pillows surround the space. 

Founded by NYC-based hospitality group simplevenue (led by restaurateurs Michael Sinensky and Erika London) alongside Partner and Chief Hospitality Officer Richie Romero, Sushi By Bou has been redefining the traditional sushi counter experience since its inception in 2017.

The D.C. outpost is open Wednesday through Sunday, operating from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and extended hours from 5 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
