Citizen and Hypebeast drop a 600-piece Zenshin to mark two decades of culture

Citizen and Hypebeast have unveiled the Zenshin Hypebeast 20th Anniversary Limited Edition, a monochromatic timepiece celebrating two milestones at once: the streetwear platform’s two decades of influence and a half-century of Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology. It arrives in a run of just 600 numbered pieces, priced at $625.

The collaboration lands where engineering meets culture. Citizen brings the technical muscle; Hypebeast brings two decades of shaping how people talk about style.

At its core sits Citizen’s proprietary Super Titanium, at least five times harder than stainless steel, yet light enough to forget on your wrist. For this release, Citizen added DURATECT Platinum, a surface-hardening treatment applied across the titanium dial and bracelet — its most extensive use in the Zenshin collection to date. The finish resists scratches and rust, stays gentle on the skin, and keeps the package featherweight.

The design is clean and confident. A 39.5mm case pairs with an integrated bracelet for a silhouette that reads refined but carries an edge. Anniversary cues are stitched in with restraint: a custom Arabic numeral “20” sits at the four o’clock position, while the Hypebeast logo tucks beneath the hands and is etched onto the caseback.

Each watch carries a unique number on its caseback and arrives in a custom box with a matching limited-edition authentication card — a detail collectors will appreciate.

“From pioneering premium materials to developing our proprietary Eco-Drive technology, innovation has always been at the heart of who we are,” said Jeffrey Cohen, president of Citizen Watch America. “With the Zenshin Hypebeast 20th Anniversary Limited Edition model, we’re honoring that legacy in a modern way by pairing our Eco-Drive movement with a minimalist aesthetic. This collaboration is a tribute to 50 years of Eco-Drive innovation powering moments by any light and a celebration of what’s possible when heritage and modernity merge.”

The Eco-Drive movement is the quiet hero. It draws power from any light source, natural or artificial, eliminating the need for battery swaps — a nod to sustainability that fits the watch’s bigger story.

For the Hypebeast faithful and watch nerds alike, the appeal is clear: a piece tied to a cultural milestone, built with high-quality materials and limited to a number that keeps it off every wrist.
