From LA to DC: Desert 5 Spot brings country cool to the nation’s capital

The DMV is about to get a taste of the Wild West as Desert 5 Spot, the celebrated country western bar and live music venue, opens its doors in Union Market this Friday, Sept. 5. Known for its retro desert-inspired interiors, high-energy live entertainment, and craft cocktails, Desert 5 Spot is the latest venture from Ten Five Hospitality, a firm renowned for creating dynamic nightlife experiences across Los Angeles, New York, and beyond.

Located at 400 Morse Street NE, the two-story venue delivers a unique blend of Americana nostalgia and modern hospitality. Guests can enjoy nightly live music, a rooftop terrace cactus garden, a mechanical bull, and even a DJ booth crafted from a vintage Chevy truck. The venue’s signature neon signage and rustic charm make a standout addition to DC’s nightlife scene.

“Desert 5 Spot has always been about great live country music, strong drinks, and zero pretense — just a place where friends can meet and have a good time,” said Dan Daley, managing partner at Ten Five Hospitality. “We’re excited to bring D5 to D.C., a city with a vibrant dining and nightlife scene, and to add something fresh and unique to the mix.”

The bar’s cocktail program is a highlight, featuring signature drinks like the Ring of Fire (mezcal, Ancho Reyes, prickly pear, lime) and the Jolene (tequila, strawberry, watermelon, lime). For food lovers, the menu offers elevated American comfort food, including Nashville Hot Chicken, Cherry Wood-Smoked Pork Spare Ribs, and Cast Iron Cornbread.

Desert 5 Spot’s weekly programming is set to bring the venue’s cult-following experiences from Los Angeles and New York to the nation’s capital. Starting September 10, guests can enjoy live band Cowboy Karaoke every Wednesday, Bluegrass Brunch featuring top regional musicians, and line dancing every Sunday, curated by NYC’s Buck Wild team.

With its immersive atmosphere and commitment to good food, drinks, and music, Desert 5 Spot is poised to become a must-visit destination in D.C. For more information and a full schedule of events, visit www.desertfivespot.com.
