Live New Orleans-style jazz shows come to Dupont Circle’s DC Comedy Loft

A series of live jazz performances recreating the sound and atmosphere of 1920s New Orleans is coming to the DC Comedy Loft, with tickets now on sale and selling fast.

The Jazz Room: A Journey to the Heart of New Orleans, with shows on Friday, Oct. 16, and Friday, Dec. 11, offers 60-minute performances of “hot jazz,” a style that blends ragtime, brass and blues with live improvisation. Sessions are offered at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Each performance features jazz standards such as “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Hello, Dolly” and “St. James Infirmary,” performed by musicians and vocalists. Organizers describe the performance as a mix of set classics and spontaneous improvisation, a defining feature of the genre.

The Jazz Room: A Frank Sinatra & Louis Armstrong Tribute, with shows on Sunday, Nov. 8, and Friday, Jan. 29, 2027, celebrates two of the most influential figures in jazz and popular music. Sessions are offered at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The program includes iconic songs such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “My Way,” “What a Wonderful World” and “When You’re Smiling,” among others. Organizers describe the tribute as a live celebration of Sinatra’s swing style and Armstrong’s distinctive voice and trumpet work.

All performances take place at the DC Comedy Loft inside the historic Bier Baron Tavern at 1523 22nd St. NW, a Dupont Circle venue known for hosting nationally touring performers in an intimate setting. Both are open to guests 21 and older, and the venue is ADA-compliant.

Tickets for each show are available through Fever, with prices starting at $29 for standing room. Seated tickets are priced at $38 and $46. Booking fees apply.

The venue will be arranged to evoke a street-style bar from the New Orleans jazz era, with shared tables and seating assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each ticket zone. A bar is available on-site.
